The first brand I wrote for paid $20 for 1,500 words. This wasn’t a lot of money, but I used the opportunity to improve my skills, build my portfolio, and get my name out there.
I currently don’t do a lot of freelancing anymore because I’m concentrating on my own brand, but I have friends who earn up to $5k a month doing freelance writing. The good news is that getting started with freelancing writing in Nigeria is not as difficult as you may think.

There are many ways to earn income through a Youtube channel. The most popular one is Google Adsense monetization. You make cash each time your viewers click on ads showing on your videos.
Besides Adsense monetization, you can promote digital and physical products on your videos. This method allows you to make money when people buy through your referral link or promo code. You can also add a link to your online store for viewers to visit and buy your products.
3. Create a Blog
Making money online in Nigeria by creating a blog is more realistic than many people actually think. The good thing is that it offers many routes to monetization.
Bloggers earn money through affiliate marketing. This method allows you to earn a commission when readers click your affiliate link and buy.
Apart from promoting affiliate links, there are many other ways to make money through blogging, including writing sponsored posts, displaying advertising, and selling your products. Blogging platforms such as NameCheap provide an easy and cost-effective way of starting your blog for less than #30,000.
4. Become a Proofreader
As a proofreader, you’ll be helping bloggers, writers, and even court reporters ensure their work is error-free and grammatically correct. A proofreader’s job is to be an extra eye after the writer has finished writing.
You’re paid to find errors that made it to the finished text. With a good number of clients, freelance proofreaders in Nigeria can earn a decent income that’ll be enough for them to take care of their bills and live comfortably.

Though I haven’t tried it myself, I have seen close friends who make around $25 per hour offering virtual assistant services. The beauty is that you provide this service from the comfort of your home.
7. Create a Mobile App
As a Nigerian, you can make money by creating a mobile application that solves people’s problems. You don’t need to be a developer or software engineer to create a mobile app.
If you’ve a good idea, find someone with the technical skills to help bring it to life. You can ask for recommendations or go to platforms like Upwork, Fiverr, or Freelancer.com to find a developer or software engineer for your mobile app project.
Once your mobile app is live, you can monetize it through Google Admob. Apart from Google Admob monetization, you can sell it to a bigger brand or offer a premium version.

8. Start Investing
When people think of investing in stocks and crypto, the first thing that comes to mind is huge capital. But the truth is that you don’t need a huge amount of money to start your investing journey in Nigeria.
